The first is what the studio published. The second is what a casino actually runs. On most games those match. On some they don't, and the gap is the single most useful thing on this page.

Studios release games in several RTP configurations and let each operator license whichever they prefer. That means the advertised figure is a ceiling, not a promise — the build in front of you depends entirely on where you're playing. Starburst is the clearest example on this site: NetEnt's specification is 96.09%, but the best build we've found deployed at a UK casino is 94.09%. Two full percentage points, invisible from the reels.

So when you're scanning the grid, the number worth reading is the deployed one. The spec tells you what the game could pay. The deployed figure tells you what it will.

Filter by volatility before you filter by RTP

The instinct is to sort by highest RTP and start at the top. It's the wrong order, and it's the mistake that empties bankrolls.

RTP sets the long-run cost of playing. Volatility decides how that cost arrives — steadily, or in long droughts punctuated by rare bursts. Two games can share a 96% return and behave nothing alike, and for anyone playing to a fixed budget the behaviour matters more than the percentage.

Our own session modelling makes the size of that difference concrete. Take £100, stake £1 a spin, play 500 spins on a 96% slot. On a low-volatility game you'd lose the lot roughly 7% of the time. On a high-volatility one, 53% — more often than not, you're out before the session ends. The expected return is identical in both cases. Only the variance changes, and variance is what actually empties a balance.

Pick the volatility band that suits your budget first. Then take the best deployed RTP available inside it. That's the order that works.

What the filters do

The Provider filter narrows to a single studio, which is useful because studios have house styles — some ship consistently high RTP, others hold back builds for operators to choose from. Volatility splits the database into low, medium and high. Mechanic covers Megaways, bonus buy, wild features, jackpots and penny slots. New shows recent releases.

Where the figures come from

RTP is disclosed in each game's own information panel — studios are required to publish it, and UK-licensed operators are required to display the build they're running. That panel is the authoritative source, and it's what our figures are read from. Each entry carries the date it was last confirmed.

That date matters more than people assume. Operators switch builds, so an RTP figure without a date attached is close to worthless. Ours are checked regularly, but a snapshot is still a snapshot: before you play, open the game's info panel and confirm the number yourself. It takes ten seconds and it's the only source that can't be out of date.

Our main coverage is operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, where paytable disclosure is enforceable. Outside that jurisdiction it isn’t enforceable in the same way, so we cover crypto and offshore sites separately and flag where a figure can’t be verified to the same standard.

From a number to a decision

Knowing a slot runs at 96.71% rather than 94.51% is only useful if you know what the difference buys you. That gap is £2.20 per £100 staked — about £11 over a 500-spin session at £1 a spin.

Slot RTP Database FAQs

Why do some slots show two different RTP figures?
The first is the studio's published specification — the highest the game can be configured to pay. The second is what we’ve found actually deployed at a casino we monitor. Where they differ, the operator has licensed a lower-paying build of the same game. The deployed figure is the one that governs your money.
How often do these RTP figures change?
Less often than they change silently. Operators renegotiate licensing and swap builds periodically rather than daily, so a given slot can hold the same RTP for months and then move without announcement. We recheck regularly and date every entry, but the game's own information panel is always the definitive source at the moment you play.
Should I just pick whatever has the highest RTP?
Not on its own. A high-RTP, high-volatility slot can drain a small bankroll faster than a lower-RTP, low-volatility one, because it pays rarely and in bursts. Decide what variance your budget can absorb, then take the best RTP available within that band. Sorting purely by RTP ignores the half of the equation that determines whether your session lasts.

What counts as a good RTP for a slot?
The rough industry midpoint sits around 96%, so anything above that is better than average and anything below is worse. But the more useful comparison is between builds of the same game rather than against a general benchmark — if a slot you want to play runs at 96.71% somewhere and 94.51% elsewhere, that choice matters far more than picking a different game entirely.
