Operators

Every casino licenses its own version of each game. These are the operators running the studio’s top build most consistently — and the ones quietly running lower.

The casino is the variable, not the slot

Everyone compares slots. Almost nobody compares the casinos serving them, which is strange, because the game is the fixed part of the equation. Big Bass Bonanza is Big Bass Bonanza wherever you open it — same reels, same free spins, same maximum win. What changes is which build of it the operator has licensed.

Studios ship their games in multiple RTP configurations. Operators choose. One runs the 96.71% version, another the 94.60%, and nothing on screen distinguishes them. So the meaningful question isn't only "which slot should I play" — it's "who is serving me the better version of the slot I already want to play."

That's what this page ranks.

What the coverage score means

Each operator here carries an RTP coverage figure: of the games we've checked at that casino, the proportion running the studio's highest available build.

A casino at 95% is running top builds on nearly everything, with the occasional game held back. One at 91% is holding back roughly one game in ten. That difference sounds small and isn't — if the games you actually play fall in the reduced tenth, your cost of playing rises on every spin, permanently, regardless of how good the rest of the library is.

Coverage is a better signal than any single slot's RTP, because it tells you what to expect from an operator across your whole account rather than one game.

Why operators run lower builds

Not conspiracy — commerce. A lower-RTP build returns more margin to the operator on the same turnover, and that margin funds promotional spend, bonus liabilities, and the tax burden of running a licensed operation in a regulated market. Some operators absorb those costs and keep top builds across the board. Others recover them by quietly licensing the cheaper configuration.

None of this is hidden, exactly. Every UK-licensed operator displays the build it runs inside the game's information panel, as it's required to. It's simply that nobody reads it, and no casino advertises the fact that its version of a popular slot pays two points less than the one down the road.

RTP coverage beats the welcome bonus

This is the part most comparison sites get backwards, and it's worth doing the arithmetic.

Take a standard offer: £50 bonus at 35x wagering. That's £1,750 you have to put through the games before anything is withdrawable. At a casino running 96.71% builds, clearing it costs you about £58 in expected losses. At one running 94.60%, the same £50 bonus costs about £95 to clear — about £37 more, for the identical offer.

So a headline bonus can be entirely undone by the RTP behind it, and frequently is. Our wagering calculator will run these numbers for any offer you're weighing, including the break-even RTP the bonus needs to be worth taking at all — which for a standard 35x deal sits around 97.14%, a bar almost no slot clears.

Compare the coverage first, then the bonus. Not the other way round.

What to check before you sign up

The licence. We list UK Gambling Commission operators separately from crypto and offshore sites for a reason: inside UK regulation, paytable disclosure is enforceable and player-protection tools are mandatory. Outside it, RTP figures can't be independently verified in the same way, and we flag those clearly rather than presenting them as equivalent.

The paytable, at the moment you play. Our figures are checked regularly and dated, but operators do switch builds. Open the game's information panel and confirm the number yourself — it's the only source that can't be stale.

The bonus terms, not the bonus size. Game weighting means slots usually count 100% toward wagering while table games count a fraction, so the same requirement can take ten times the turnover depending on what you play. Max-bet limits during wagering can void a bonus entirely if breached. Both matter more than the headline figure.

18+. Gamble responsibly. RTP is a long-run theoretical average and does not predict any individual session. All bonuses are subject to the operator's terms and conditions. Support is available at BeGambleAware.

FAQs About Best Payout Casinos

What is an RTP coverage score?
It's the proportion of the games we've checked at a casino that run the studio's highest available RTP build. A casino at 95% is serving top versions on nearly everything; one at 90% is holding back roughly one game in ten. It's a measure of the operator, not any single slot.
Do casinos have to tell me which RTP version they're running?
UK-licensed operators must display the return to player for each game in its information panel, and that figure has to reflect the build actually in play. They aren't required to advertise it beyond that, which is why the difference between operators goes almost entirely unnoticed.
Is a casino with a bigger bonus the better choice?
Often not. Clearing a £50 bonus at 35x wagering means putting £1,750 through the games, and the cost of doing that depends entirely on the RTP of the builds available. The same offer can cost around £58 at a high-coverage casino and close to £95 at a low-coverage one — a difference that swallows most headline bonuses whole.
Why do you list crypto and offshore casinos separately?
Because the verification isn't equivalent. UK-licensed operators are bound by enforceable disclosure and player-protection requirements. Outside that framework, published RTP figures can't be independently checked to the same standard, so presenting the two together as if they were comparable would be misleading.
How current are these coverage figures?
Each is checked regularly and dated. Operators renegotiate licensing and swap builds periodically rather than constantly, so figures tend to hold for months and then move without notice. Treat ours as a strong starting point and confirm the individual game before you play.
