Where to find the RTP in the game

Almost every online slot keeps its RTP in the same place: the game's own information screen. Look for a menu button, an information (i) icon, or a three-line menu icon — usually in a corner of the game window — and open the section labelled Info, Paytable, Game Rules or Help. The return to player is stated there, usually near the bottom, as a percentage or a short line such as "The theoretical return to player is 96.70%."

1. Open the slot for real money (or its demo — see below).
2. Tap the menu button, information (i) icon, or three-line menu icon, often by the spin or bet controls.
3. Choose Info, Paytable, Rules or Help.
4. Scroll to the RTP or return to player line — that's the figure for your version.

Why the in-game figure is the one that counts

A slot's RTP can be printed in a dozen places — a review, a casino lobby tile, the studio's website, an old screenshot — but only one of them is guaranteed to match the game you've actually opened. Many slots ship in several RTP versions, and each casino chooses which to run, so a figure quoted anywhere else can be the studio's default rather than the build your operator deployed. The number in the live game's info panel is the deployed one, and it can't go stale the way a published figure elsewhere can.

How to check which RTP version you're playing

Once you've found the figure, compare it with the game's maximum RTP — the studio's headline, which you'll find on the provider's site or in our slot database. If the panel shows the top figure, you're on the best build. If it's lower — say 94.06% when the studio's maximum is 96.70% — the casino is running a reduced version of the same game. The reels, features and max win are identical; only the return has been turned down.

The quicker way: look it up before you open the game

Opening every game to read its panel is thorough but slow. Does an online slot have to show its RTP?

At a UK-licensed casino, yes. Under the UK Gambling Commission's rules, operators must make a game's return to player available to players — which is why the figure is always reachable from the info panel on a UKGC site. Outside that framework, disclosure is less reliable: an unlicensed or offshore operator may not show it at all, which is one more reason to play where the number is on the record.

Finding the RTP on a physical slot machine

On a land-based machine the same idea applies, but the figure is harder to reach: it's usually in the machine's help or information menu, or on a rules sticker, and some venues don't display it as clearly as a licensed online game. Online is where the RTP is reliably shown and easy to compare — which is where the version differences matter most anyway.

What to do when the number surprises you

If the panel shows a lower RTP than you expected, you're not stuck.
